Marcie Stein is a Minneapolis based photographer. She has a passion for intertwining digital expertise with traditional photographic processes, most notably hand-coloring black and white images. Her dual professional paths of photographer and educator have converged throughout her career as she has taught students of all ages the medium of photography. She has worked extensively with the Arts for Academic Achievement (AAA) in Minneapolis and her clients include several local non-profit organizations. She has also spent the past several decades photographing a wide variety of professionals and families in the Twin Cities.
Marcie’s conviction in photography as a medium for capturing life narratives has led her to present workshops for AIDS orphans and widows in Kenya. In 2010 she served as a photographer for GROOTS Kenya, an organization that engages in community responses to AIDS, documenting their work throughout Kenya. Her studio is currently located in the Old Grain Belt Brewery Bottling House, #211 in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District.
